So, among Square Enix’s other treats and reveals at this year’s E3, there was also a show for the upcoming Hitman reboot, simply called… Hitman. The idea that Square Enix would be interested in doing another Hitman game isn’t a surprise to anyone, honestly, Hitman Absolution sold well and the series is well-liked, and Square Enix is second only to Nintendo in how shamelessly it sticks to its IP's. But now, with E3 over and everyone settling back down, a genuinely more interesting tidbit of news about the upcoming Hitman game has come to light…

Turns out, IO Interactive, the developers behind the game, are making the decision to go full-on CD Projekt Red with this next game, which means that instead of offering a $40 season pass, they’re making a $0 season pass, and it comes shipped with the game.

Free DLC, ya’ll. Speaking with VideoGamer.com, Studio Head Hannes Seifert had this to share:

"You will buy it and have entertainment for a few months on top. What we do is we start the journey on December 8, and what we put out there is going to be a big game. But over the course of 2016 we'll add more locations, more missions and we'll have things like targets that only appear for, say, 2 days. That's something you can only do in the live world."

"Everything we ship on December 8 will be completely finished, it will be a very polished experience. It's also going to be a very big game. There are other products that sell a game for $60 and then try to sell you a Season Pass for another $40 on top, so you spend $100 or $120 for all the stuff that happens later on. We said no, we don't want to do that."

He reiterated that there would be no form of micro-transactions in the game—it seems like once you buy the game, that’s all you have to worry about.

I don’t think I have to say how cool this is, but, yet, I think I’ll do it anyway—this is super cool and something I wish other developers would make a note of. Of course, it will only be really noticed if it works, and, that depends on how well the game is sold, so… get those wallets ready, folks. Time to vote with our money—the capitalist way.
