In April, the Switch absolutely reigned supreme in the USA. The console came out in March and had a record-breaking launch for that month. Now, one month later, Nintendo was able to sell 280,000 Switch units and is holding on to the highest console sales for the second month in a row. With a such a small selection of games available on Switch right now, I'm very surprised that it's early numbers are this spectacular.
Speaking of the small pool of games, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the highest selling game of April in the United States. The game sold over 550,000 copies, including physical and digital purchases. Keep in mind that this game came out on April 28th.From the 28th of April to the 30th, the game sold over half of one million copies. That's absolutely insane! I knew people were going to eat up a Mario Kart game, but these results have been jaw-dropping for Nintendo lately.
The Switch has been selling like crazy since its release. It has broken sales records for months, as well as records that were held within Nintendo. I expect to see a huge increase in sales once bigger titles come out too. I know I haven't picked up my Switch yet, but I'm absolutely going to when the time is right. Maybe this holiday season we will see some more records be broken. If not by Nintendo, maybe we'll be seeing these same results from the Xbox Scorpio.
