Anyone who knows Hideo Kojima – and really, who among us can really know such a mind – knows that the man is a sucker for celebrities, from letting his BFF Norman Reedus advertise his TV show in the middle of Death Stranding, to having Kiefer Sutherland voice Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 5, to bragging about working with Guillermo Del Toro for Silent Hills. If you’re a famous person, chances are Hideo Kojima wants to snuggle up to you.

Sometimes, this hero worship works out well – the aforementioned Silent Hills leaps to mind – and other times they don’t, like with Conan O’Brian’s blatant cameo in Death Stranding. And while we know very little about what he’s doing next, an interview on Comic Book suggests that he’s working on another collaboration with another famous figure that should have every horror fan squealing with excitement.

It seems he’s trying to collaborate with the one and only Junji Ito.

If you don’t know who that guy is, he’s a prolific – iconic, even – horror manga illustrator and creative. His style is so iconic and his imagination so graphic that I couldn’t post most of his art without getting fired from this very site. But one quick google and you’ll get a sampling of the kind of thing this guy creates.

The news of this collaboration came from the master of horror himself, who had this to say:

"I do know director Kojima and we have been in conversation that he may have a horror-based game that he may be doing, and so he has invited me to work on that, but there are no details on it yet."

It’s not a lot of information, but the combined powers of these two creative giants could give us a legitimately legendary horror game. Fingers crossed on that, I suppose.
