Hi-Rez Studio Announces Rogue Company

It is, by all measures, a video game.

Another day, another team-based arena shooter is announced to the world.

Rogue Company is a top-secret syndicate of elite mercenaries around the globe. To most of the world, the elusive mercenaries are a rumor at best. However, to those in the know, Rogue Company operatives are indispensable to solving the world’s deadliest and most challenging missions. As a Rogue Company mercenary, players will grab their weapon of choice and dive into iconic locations to compete online in various PVP game modes.

Group up with friends and dominate the competition. Rogue Company will feature cross-play across all platforms.

This, as you’ve probably guessed, is Rogue Company, the latest game from Hi-Rez studio, the people behind Smite and Paladins. Despite how it looks, it’s not actually a battle royale game, but a team-based shooter where you and your mates battle other people and… do… stuff of that nature. Frankly it all looks terribly boring but Hi-Rez does have a reputation for finding novel spins on conventional genres so maybe they can do the same here.

Given that the game is coming out sometime next year, there’s a whole lot we still don’t know. Right now, the biggest selling point is that the game will be launched on all major platforms (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC) and will have cross-play from the get-go. It’s not a lot, but… no, actually, it kind of is a lot. I appreciate that.

Everything else, though, we’ll just have to wait for a better trailer.
