Here's What Changed in Fortnite's 4.5 Patch

Like dual pistols, for example.

The last major patch for Fortnite's fourth season is here, and it brought a fair bit of goodies with it. Patch 4.5 has new modes, new weapons, in-game changes, and even some Save the World improvements. But don't fret, we'll break things down for you.

The biggest update is the new limited time mode, Playground. This is a more casual game mode, allowing players to run around the map without worrying about enemy players. This will be a great way for both pros and newbies to practice their building techniques without the fret of being under fire.

There is also a new weapon, dual pistols. Only found as Epic of Legendary, they deal 41 to 43 damage. Each pistol shoots a bullet with a single fire, meaning two bullets per bullet! since those damage numbers are for a single shot, that means one well-placed confrontation can deal as much as 86 damage in a single fire. They will use medium ammo, as well.

Save the World has also been given some new attention. The Builder Pro controller layout has - after immense begging - been added to the PvE game world. Considering how much building the right structures matter in this mode, it makes sense that this improved layout would make its way over.

Not everything was made better, exactly. Edit mode will now have opaque boxes for removed sections instead of clear boxes. Epic describes this intentional change as a way to prevent players from peeking through structures while editing.
