So as you know, for a long time now Blizzard has been working with Legendary Pictures and director Duncan Jones (he did Moon, and Source Code) to produce a World of Warcraft movie. You also know, unless you’ve been to Blizzcon, absolutely nothing else about this little picture. Blizzard and Legendary have been doing an excellent job keeping this project under tight wraps, and for the vast majority of us curious bystanders, all we’ve been able to do is wait for whatever information we can use to trickle out to us.
Today, we receive one such trickle, which, in retrospect, is a horrible way to phrase things. Anyway, here’s a picture of Orgrim Doomhammer, one of the main characters of the upcoming film.
Pretty cool/impressive, right? Fans of World of Warcraft lore will certainly get a kick out of it, and fans of CGI will no doubt be impressed by how… ‘realistic’ he looks, for a creature of all CGI. That’s because he’s being animated by the folks at Industrial Light and Magic, which are the same people behind the Hulk in the Avengers films. Presumably, they’ll be doing the other orcs too. Orgrim, in any case, will be played by Robert Kazinsky (Who was Chuck Hansen in Pacific Rim and, more importantly, George Jetson in Robot Chicken) and will be “gruff, humorous, and tough”, so, be sure to judge him on those merits when you see him on the silver screen.
Anyway, that’s pretty much it; cool screen cap, teaser for upcoming film. We can see it in motion June 10, 2016… or when the first trailer comes out, whichever comes first.
