Hearthstone Gets a New Game Mode Soon

It's free, but the picture is applicable anyway

Hearthstone: the game that keeps on giving, eh?

Well, while we’ve still got a bit of a wait before we get our next hero portrait skin (and another angry uprising from the Hearthstone population objecting how expensive they are), we’ve arguably got an even more exciting addition coming in the near future: a new game mode!

And even better, it’s free! As in, free-free! You don’t have to pay real money OR in-game gold to access it! Dream come true, am I right?

The mode in question is called “Tavern Brawl”, but, sadly, it’s not nearly as interesting as it sounds. Rather than, say, getting annoyed in the middle of a Frost Mage’s combo and just flipping the table to punch their smug faces in, the Tavern Brawl mode is something like a ‘mode of the week’—where new and oftentimes whacky rules and regulations are introduced to add some variety and spice to the average Hearthstone match. For example, it might buff specific types of cards, it might force you to make a new deck to match a certain set of requirements, you might just straight-up be given a deck to play with… ect.

You can challenge anyone to a game of Tavern Brawl, friend and stranger alike, and even more exciting is that for the first few weeks, you’ll get a free card pack for your first win-of-the-week in that mode. So expect quite an influx of interest on Mondays.

The mode itself isn’t out yet, but is said to become available “later this month”, whenever that winds up being. In addition to this new mode, there will be a few more features added into the game, such as being able to link certain decks with certain card backs, as well as two new card backs—something for the wizard and something for the hunter. For the Horde! And for the Alliance! Respectively!
