Case in point: Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Way back when these games were first released they were pretty much THE games that defined the generation . They were popular with fans and non-fans alike, and Guitar Hero tournaments were more common than DDR, Starcraft, or League of Legend combined. It was pretty fly, in summation, and when it was called dead there was no shortage of people who were bummed out by the news.
But again: it was popular. It made its developer and publisher a LOT of money. It wasnt going to stay dead for long. And in an interview with GameSpot, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos suggested the Rock Band series may make a comeback on the current generation of consoles.
"We think about it all the time because we love Rock Band, and we're waiting for just the right moment in the new generation of consoles to bring it back." He said, "Someday, when the time is right, we will want to bring it back."
Encouraging words for fans, I imagine. But that also means you have to buy new guitars and drums and the like, so, start saving your money now.
