Hand of Fate is one of those games that fell into the same category as Starbound or Darkest Dungeons: a early access game that was so polished and well done it was easy to forget it was actually still in early access. And when you hear “it’s finally out," you think, “well no crap it’s been out for the past year--oh, you mean it’s out of early access, right." Well, Hand of Fate actually left early access awhile back, but it’s done so well in the time since that the developers have announced that there’s going to be a sequel!
Set after the first game, the card-dealer-shark guy (I never actually beat the first game, so sue me) is back from death and is willing to lead a new protagonist through his little gauntlet of misery. The difference being, he’s not doing it just to screw with you now: the protagonist from the first game defeats him, becomes a ruler, and has now become a tyrant, ruling the realms with an iron fist, and outlawing all magic--probably because he had such a crappy time against those goddamn wizards. You’re also a lady in this game, apparently. That’s nice.
Otherwise, the game looks more or less unchanged, and looks to come out around 2017. If it’ll hit early access before then, however… that’s anyone’s guess. Don’t see why they wouldn’t, though, since it worked so well the first time.
