A wise man once said that All shooter games, if given enough time, will implement a grappling hook. And now, that wisdom has made its way into one of the most well known shooter games of all time: Halo. A grappling hook accessory has been confirmed as part of the upcoming Halo: Infinite.
Microsoft has been teasing more content relating to Halo: Infinite lately. This ranged from zoom-ins of Master Chief's helmet to computer code and prompts scanning across the screen. None of it painted a clear picture as to what it was saying. But that didnt stop loyal fans from digging as deep as they can for new information.
WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS
The following information may be considered spoilers for Halo: Infinite. While not everything is confirmed information, it may reveal a major aspect of the game, if true. If you dont want the surprise ruined for yourself, you may want to avoid reading beyond here.
With that said, here are some noteworthy bits of information that the community has uncovered.
Let's start with the headliner: the grappling hook. In a recent teaser, we see Master Chief in the classic combat-ready pose. On his left arm, we see what appears to be a grappling hook. This is the first time that the piece of equipment has been seen on his armor, implying that it will be a new addition. Other than that, we know practically nothing about it.
The same trailer also features a reflection in Master Chiefs helmet. In it, we see a distorted image of perhaps a brute with a grav hammer. If its who we think it is, Hyperious, the leader of the Banished, may be making an appearance. He was part of Halo Wars 2, running the enemy faction. This theory is supported by a recently leaked MegaBloks playset sponsorship, which shows a small toy rendition of various Halo characters, including Hyperius.
Moving on to the next teaser, a rough timeline (and plot character) may have been revealed. According to console information displayed inside of a helmet, Master Chiefs suit was modified by Dr. Catherine Halsey on September 9, 2561. This date is about three years after the events of Halo 5. Halsey is the scientist that created the Spartan 2 Program and the Mjolnir armor that Spartans wear. She took an antagonistic role after it was revealed that she would kidnap children to enroll into the Spartan super soldier project.
This certainly is a lot to take in. And for all the potential gaps it fills in our frantic cork board covered in yarn connections, it adds just as many gaps and questions. The only way to know for sure is when the game releases later this year on the Xbox Series X.
