Xbox has been making noticeably strides toward the freedom and connectivity of their players lately. We can see this with things like the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere. But one disconcerting fact has come to light: Halo: Infinite doesn't appear to support Play Anywhere.
Halo, being Microsoft's flagship franchise, and Halo: Infinite being such a big deal that they're developing an entirely new engine for it, makes it surprising that the official Xbox page lacks a Play Anywhere confirmation. Especially considering other upcoming Xbox franchises like Gears of War 5 have confirmed to support the feature. NeoGAF user DynamiteCop! was the first to notice the absence.
Xbox Play Anywhere is a feature provided by Microsoft that allows gamers to share their owned content across devices, even seamlessly transferring save data. This means that if you own it on Xbox, you own it on PC as well, and can swap between them freely.
Halo: Infinite is stated to support 4K resolutions and HDR, and include "enhanced" options for the Xbox One X. It's clear that the company is putting a fair number of eggs in this basket. It's unclear why Microsoft is leaving that particular egg out. We've reached out to the company for a statement.
Halo: Infinite will be coming to PC and Xbox One at some point in the future.
