Virtual Reality games are exploding, with some releasing before consumers can get their paws on major virtual reality gear. Even a certain development team, responsible for Darksiders and Darksiders II, jumped into the VR pool with their June announcement of the upcoming Adventure RPG Chronos.

Fans of Gunfire Games appeared excited, but this was a new IP after all, so what exactly should be expected? Well, fans who are attending PAX Prime may have the opportunity to find out, as Gunfire Games will be showcasing the anticipating title at the show from August 28-31.

In the Sasquatch Theater, President David Adams will also be hosting a panel August 29 at 5:00 PST titled, "Exploring New Worlds in VR." There, fans can meet with the developers and learn more about game development for VR, including the challenges. Chronos itself will be available for view at the Oculus Booth at the Skybridge Lobby on the 4th floor of the WSCC.

For those that are unaware of the Adventure RPG, Chronos is an atmospheric RPG that focuses on a young man's lifelong journey to save his homeland from the clutches of a powerful foe. In this quest lies a labyrinth that is the key to the restoration of his home. For some reason--assumedly to restrict entry for many--the labyrinth only opens once a year. The hero must thus scour the labyrinth and hope he succeeds, for if he fails, he must wait another year.

This title offers a unique leveling mechanic that centralizes on ageing. Ageing in Chronos is considerably more advanced than... say, the Fable series, by attaching the young man's age to his abilities. At the beginning of the title, he is young, nimble and quick, but for every year that passes, he progressively slows down, but gains the intelligence and more magical strength, becoming the ultimate "Gandalf."

As the young man, you must adapt to the process of ageing and uncover the secrets hosted by the labyrinth. After all, why does the labyrinth even exist?

Chronos will be available for PC/Oculus. More detailed information will be revealed in the coming months so we'll be sure to update you. Below you can find the release trailer:
