That said, they recently had a huge amount of success with the new Dragon Ball FighterZ, which was praised for being both accessible for the new kids with a sufficient amount of complexity that would allow veterans to absolutely crush the unskilled in online matches. And it seems the company has learned a few things from that, as Guilty Gear creator Daisuke Ishiwatari told Destructoid that he wants to make future games in the series simpler and more accessible.
"After releasing Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 it's clear what we need to improve on. The key is to win over more users because of the complex controls. But if we implement everything the game will no longer be Guilty Gear. It's hard to balance out all the improvements. One thing that we have to do in the next installment is to reduce the number of systems; it's too complicated for everyone. You can expect that in the next game."
While no one was doubting that a new Guilty Gear game is on the way, none has formally been announced yet, so whatever this new system looks like is still a mystery to everyone except the people working there. Enough to get people like me to try it? Probably not. But I’m hoping for the best.
