Being a hero isnt easy, especially when no one needs saving and your debts are starting to pile up. But sometimes an effort towards fiscal responsibility can lead to something far greater: a threat to the entire galaxy. Get ready for Guardians of the Galaxy, the upcoming action adventure game by Eidos-Montréal.
The games formal reveal was the introduction to this years Square Enix E3 presentation. Starting with an official game trailer, it was followed up by a longer, supercut gameplay segment, showing off some of the unique features of the game.
Made by the same people that made Dues Ex, Guardians of the Galaxy is a reimagined take on the popular Marvel comic book story. The player controls Peter Quill (Starlord), as they work together with the rest of the team: Gamora, Drax, Rocket Racoon, and Groot. Each characters style and design has a familiar yet unique take in an equally familiar setting.
The expanded gameplay presentation shows the team struggling to come up with enough money to keep their spaceship. The group decides to sell one of their more monstrous teammates to a monster merchant, with the intent of breaking them back out afterwards. Throughout this effort, we see both combat gameplay, and various your decisions matter type narrative moments.
They make the common claim that each decision you make will have consequences, but weve heard that enough times to be distrustful. Will it really matter, or will it be mild chances wrapped in the illusion of choice? Despite this concern, the overall game looks like itll be a fun and engaging time.
Guardians of the Galaxy will have no microtransactions, no DLC, and will be available on Xbox and Playstation on October 26, 2021.
