Grey Goo, which has been critically praised since its release, has finally expanded with the arrival of brand spankin' new single-player DLC, and a free update that actually improves multiplayer mechanics.

This particular DLC, titled "Emergence," features three story missions that fleshes out the the single-player campaign and is available on Steam for $7.99, but those that currently own Grey Goo are in for a treat--this expansion is 100% free until Thursday, June 11 at 11:00 am CDT.

Pretty thoughtful, huh?

The enhancements, which are free for all users, include an observer mode for spectating matches, a replay mode for watching and sharing previously played matches, dedicated server support for multiplayer, and the ability to import custom assets into the game's terrain editor.

To refresh minds or introduce newcomers to the title, Grey Goo is a Sci-Fi modern RTS-inspired by classic strategic base-building and unit management gameplay. In the story-driven single-player campaign, you can play as the Betas, Humans, and Goo. There is also LAN support for up to four players, an online multiplayer, and a terrain editor.

So far, Grey Goo has met with a resounding success, and the community is often treated to new updates such as balance optimizations and the Map Pack 1. There will be more multiplayer maps, multiplayer pause functionality, and improvements to the terrain editor.

Those interested can purchase Grey Goo on PC via Steam for $49.99. If you want to know more about Grey Goo, feel free to read our article on "A Quick Look at Grey Goo."
