Grand POOBear Sets World Record for Super Dram World

Speedrunners are a totally unique niche group of gamers that the rest of us really can't come to comprehend. Their skills at making extremely difficult games look like a walk in the park both put us to shame and render us utterly speechless out of pure amazement. Recently, Youtuber and Twitch streamer Grand POOBear (awesome play of words on the hip-hop legend Grand Puba) managed an insane feat by completing an excruciatingly difficult Super Mario World hack called Super Dram World (named after the speedrunner dram55). Super Dram World is a "kaizo" hack of Super Mario World that is basically a version of Super Mario World that sets out to make the game as difficult and punishing as possible via death traps and completely unfair level design.

If you're not familiar with hacks of Super Mario World, then this video will absolutely blow your mind. To a casual gamer, Super Dram World looks like an absolute nightmare and an impossible accomplishment to the normal gamer. Grand POOBear makes this nightmare of a game look like a piece of cake, setting two world records in one playthrough. Firstly, he secured the world record for the Any% fastest completion at 24 minutes and 9 seconds and he also grabbed the fastest 100% completion record at 35 minutes and 51 seconds. Just merely finishing this game would be an accomplishment worth celebrating for any normal gamer, but Grand POOBear has done the seemingly impossible. It wasn't technically a perfect run since he did die twice, but his skills are mind blowing nonetheless.

POOBear went on to say he was completely done with the game, and very happy to be just that. He acknowledged the fact that it wasn't a perfect run and challenges anyone to beat his record, explaining that somebody probably could, but regardless, he's not coming back to it. Who could blame him? I get stressed out just watching him play the game. Well done POOBear, well done.
