Polyphony Digital has recently announced on the Gran Turismo website that online services will be ending for Gran Turismo 6.
The PlayStation 3 exclusive will be losing its online service on March 28, 2018. In anticipation for this, downloadable digital content for the game will no longer be available after January 31, 2018.
The removal of online services will end the ability to use in-game content like the Community, Quick Match, Lobbies, and Seasonal Events. The rest of the game (the offline section) will still be fully playable.
If you have in-game credits that have been deleted or unredeemed, be sure to restore these credits before the service ends, as it will be impossible to accomplish after that. You can do this by going to My Home, then GT Store, then Purchased Content and redeeming it from there. If you had deleted the game data, and redeeming your credits is not possible in-game, then you can do so via the PlayStation Network Purchase History.
The companion app Track Path Editor will also become unavailable after March 28. Since it uses the online service to transfer track data to the game, it will understandably not work anymore.
Gran Turismo 6 first launched in 2013. It's a shame that its online services will be ending so soon. Polyphony Digital has promised that the recovered manpower will be put towards progress on the online services of Gran Turismo Sport.
