Okay, so, a while back (before I was writing for this siteas if I could remember such a distant time!) good guy video game distributors and vanguards of nostalgia Good Old Games announced that they were taking steps to see their massive library of games becomes Linux compatiblemirroring Steams not-so-recent initiative to do the same (although GoG has yet to release an OS and a console based off Linux). It was anticipated by GoG that it would have a library of 100 Linux-supported titles ready for consumption by fall of this year.
Turns out, though, we have good news and bad news: The good news is that GoG just recently revealed that Linux support is live now, launching several months before the anticipated date. The bad news, however, is that theres only fifty or so titles readily available at time of writing.
Still, its not a bad list. FlatOut and FlatOut2, Darklands, Realms of the Haunting, Duke Nukem 3D, Long Live the Queen, Legend of Grimrock, Sid Meiers Civilization, Space Pirates and Zombies its a long list, you can see the whole thing here.
Even better, if youre looking for a bargain, if you buy some of these games before next Tuesday, theyll be 75% off! Check out the promo page here.
Pretty good news, Id say. I like the guys at GoG a lot, and Linux always needs some love. Happy gaming all!
