What's a way for people to get you playing your game? Why, give away free copies of said game along with movie tickets. At least, that's how Blizzard's doing it. According to this
recent legitimate survey found on Reddit (which has a typo, but it's been confirmed by a Blizzard employee that it's real), Blizzard is seriously considering giving away digital copies of World of Warcraft with the purchase of a ticket to see
Warcraft in theaters.
What's also rather amazing is the fact that the "Ultimate Movie Edition" will include all of the expansions save for the unreleased
Legion. In other words, movie attendees will receive:
- Burning Crusade
- Wrath of the Lich King (the typo here is Litch)
- Cataclysm
- Mists of Pandaria
- Warlords of Draenor
Not only that, but it will include one month of free game time and an exclusive in-game item. Well how about that? You think this would be a good marketing ploy? Quite possibly, especially if the new expansion is about to be released fairly soon, but it's also been years and those that wanted to play it probably have by now.
