Ghosts have always been an intense subject for debate. Do they exist? If they do, what do they do? Possess people and objects? Well, we can imagine the possibility through an indie game created by the French Studio Sushee.
The game, titled Goetia, is currently in the midst of a Kickstarter Campaign, is $7,600 shy of its $30,000 goal, with only five days to go. To attach themselves to the backers, the developers at Sushee are going beyond the typical form of Collector's Editions and are cooperating with E-Mage-IN 3D in order to construct some physical figures. There are only three ways to obtain these exclusive models:
Super Collector - Must donate $315 or more to obtain a model of Abigail's grave, a T-Shirt, physical and digital versions of the artbook and soundtrack, digital postcards, digital map of the manor (the setting of the game), name in the credits, and two digital copies of the game.
Ultimate Collector - Must donate $1200 or more to obtain the items included in the Super Collector edition, plus a Malphas statue, four printed postcards, a third copy of the game, and credits on the website as a Main Contributor.
Moeity Commission - Must donate $2500 or more to obtain what's included in the Super and Ultimate Collector's Editions, as well as a large photographic print signed by Moeity, your portrait in one of the manor's main rooms, and four total copies of the game.
"So what exactly is the game all about?" You may find yourself asking. Well, Goetia is a 2D point-and-click adventure game that is set in a haunted English mansion during World War II. Yes, the game is set in a Victoria era, which seems to be pretty popular as of late. The main protagonist is a ghost named Abigail Blackwood, a girl who died 40 years before the setting and has returned. The goal of the game is to discover the mystery of the death and more about the Blackwood family.
An intriguing, unique gameplay aspect is that, as a ghost, you must possess objects to solve puzzles and move the plot again, unlike in other point-and-click adventures where one needs to simply combine two objects. Combine the idea with five vast areas to explore, and you're in for a SPECTacularly (oho!) good time.
You can download the demo and back the project through this Kickstarter page. You can also view the video for Goetia here:
Oh, did I mention Square Enix is supporting the game?
