Last month, Sony Santa Monica Studio announced that God of War (2018) will be getting a New Game + mode. Now we know when.
New Game + will arrive August 20. It will be a free update to all players. This new mode will allow Kratos and his son to restart the game, while retaining "many" of the various upgrades earned through the initial playthrough. This includes armor, pommels, and talismans.
The release date was announced recently on the PlayStation Blog. Here they detail new customization options for the character's armor and enchantments. It also introduces a new rarity level for gear, and the ability to skip cinematic cutscenes. The game will also become more difficult as a result, this won't be a cakewalk.
This introduces even more post-game content to an already abundant pile. The world has a plethora of tasks, collectibles, and even extra realms to explore and complete. They continue to add to the lore of the world you've grown familiar with as well. Trying to complete the Valkyrie challenges alone will add plenty of challenge and gameplay time. To play through it all again only multiplies the replayability.
Personally, I just like seeing young and innocent Atreus in end-game armor.
