It's even more exciting, however, when those revealed games are made by developers we know are awesome. Case in point: Gigantic! Check out the trailer below.
Neat, but not exactly informative. So what is Gigantic? Well, first thing you should know is that it’s being made by Motiga, an independent developer who happens to employ the lead designer of the original Starcraft, James Phinney. And if that doesn’t trip your trigger, here’s a basic synopsis of how the game works:
You know how in the standard MOBA, you and a team of four other players are working together against another team to take down the enemy base? Well, in this game, your base isn't just going to sit and take it—rather, what you’re trying to “defend” is a giant Guardian who is more than capable of holding its own in combat. That’s certainly an innovative take on the MOBA, which I guess makes this like DOTA 2 crossed with Shadow of the Colossus. As explained by James Phinney...
“The gameplay in Gigantic is about creating opportunities to be heroic. Whether you’re rescuing an ally, sneaking behind enemy lines or facing off solo against a towering guardian, there are dramatic ways to turn the tide of battle.”
That's all we know right now, except that the game will be released next year for PC, and will be free-to-play. Motiga is accepting applications for the upcoming alpha, which you can sign up for here.
