Gears of War Movie has Been Confirmed

With Gears of War 4 right around the corner, a lot of people have been waiting for the game's launch. It has recently been confirmed that The Coalition and Universal Pictures will be teaming up to make a new Gears of War movie. The film is in very early stages, so directors and writers have not been determined yet, however the film will be produced by Scott Stuber from Bluegrass Films.The announcement was made by Rod Fergusson during a recent Gears of War 4 livestream, and said that the movie will not be directly based off of any previous Gears of War games.

The goal of the film is to produce a movie that appeals to a larger audience than just Gears of War fans. They don't want to make the movie a copy of a previous game, and want it to be able to stand on its own. Movies based on video games can either be really amazing or really awful. It's hard to find any middle ground in these types of situations, but hopefully they hit the nail on the head with this one. I've always wanted a Gears movie, and was really excited when they announced one back in 2007.

The other film never took off and nothing came from the announcement at all, but this shows a lot of promise. With all the hype the game is getting, I'm sure a lot of people will be keeping their eyes open for film news as well. Gears of War 4 will be available on October 11th, and the movie has no date whatsoever.
