Speaking to Gamespot, Cliff Bleszinski shared his opinion on Virtual Reality, and I think he really hit the nail on the head. Firstly, Bleszinski says he has a few ideas about what he wants to do with VR in the future, but as of right now, he's got his hands full with the development of Lawbreakers,  which is entering closed beta this week

Bleszinski explained how the hardest part about getting into VR is installing it, while the costs to develop a good game in virtual reality are just too high at the moment. This is why all the games were seeing for VR are super basic, simulator type games with no real content available. So far, the only games available for VR are what Bleszinski likes to describe as, "Oh look I'm throwing a can," type of games. I couldn't have said it any better if I tried.

"Sony's got a great headset but still it's kind of clunky, the price point, there's a lot of shovelware on VR right now. A lot of crappy Unity games where it's like, 'Oh look I'm throwing a can.' Yeah, big deal right? No actual real games, and part of that is this catch 22 of a lot of the proper platform-holders of VR finding funding. You can't make a really deep, great game arguably in VR for like a million bucks. So you've gotta really pony it up."

The fact is, AAA studios are hesitant to make good games for VR because the cost of development is just too high, while the market for VR just isn't popular enough yet due to the cost of the hardware, and well because there are no big titles being developed. The only real exception to this is Fallout 4 VR which is currently in development and apparently going pretty well.

Everybody definitely sees the potential of VR, but that's as far as it goes right now. The potential is there, but we most likely won't see big titles released consistently for a while from now. Bleszinski said it's definitely possible that VR will blow up, but not anytime soon. Hopefully, Fallout 4 VR sets an example for other big developers, but sadly, I don't think VR will really go mainstream until the price of hardware goes down, and until developers start creating bigger and better titles. Until then, enjoy throwing cans around and playing jump scare games. I probably would If i had the expendable income to do so.
