Microsoft has announced that Gears of War 5, as well as Age of Empires I, II & III: Definitive Editions, will be releasing on Steam alongside the Windows Store.
This is the latest update in relation to Microsoft's new trend of allowing many of their games on PC. They recognize that Steam is the current king of PC gaming and don't want to hinder the players by avoiding it, according to Xbox head Phil Spencer.
"We know millions of PC gamers trust Steam as a great source to buy PC games and we've heard the feedback that PC gamers would like choice. We also know that there are other stores on PC, and we are working to enable more choice in which store you can find our Xbox Game Studios titles in the future."
So far, this confirms Gears 5, Age of Empires, and the Halo: Master Chief Collection for Steam. Xbox still has a few other games, like previous Gears games and the Forza series, that will be available on PC, but only through the Windows Store and Xbox Live.
