Just yesterday, we reported that Gearbox, who has remastered the cult classic Bulletstorm, partnered with the shady key reseller G2A to promote the title on PC. People were flabbergasted by the decision, attacking Gearbox. Gearbox, as a result, issued threats against G2A, saying they will back out of the deal if G2A won't change its ways. Well, the reseller was given 24 hours to publicly commit to making certain changes to its service, but - surprise, surprise - it didn't.

So, the conclusion has been reached. According to Vice Waypoint, Gearbox has backed out of the Bulletstorm deal with G2A.

According to Gearbox head of publishing Steve Gibson in a statement:

"As there has been no public movement from G2A by the time Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition launched now on PC, Gearbox Publishing will be doing their part to not directly support a marketplace that did not make the new public commitment to protecting customers and developers requested by Gearbox Publishing."

To add:

"We do not control G2A's marketplace or where they may obtain keys from parties outside of Gearbox Publishing, but we can confirm that today we have begun executing on our extraction process."

However, it's worth noting that G2A spoke with Vice, reporting that it was "in the process of talking with Gearbox," and there will be a more concrete answer after the weekend.

It's good that Gearbox has withdrawn from the deal, at the very least.
