Gearbox to Produce "Brothers in Arms" TV Show

Do you wish there was another military show on TV? Are you a fan of World War 2 era shooter games from the Mid 2000s? Then do I have news for you. Gearbox's Brothers in Arms is being made into a TV series.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the popular WWII shooter is currently being adapted for a television show.

So far, screenwriter Scott Rosenbaum has been confirmed to be part of the project, while Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford will be an executive producer. They also confirmed that Jean-Julien Baronnet, Richard Whelan, and Sean Haran will be involved with the project.

The project is still looking for a director, however, as well as a broadcast partner. For this reason, we don't know what platform the series will be available on, whether it's live TV or a streaming service.

According to Rosenbaum, the show will follow the struggles of eight soldiers as they try to rescue their colonel after a failed rehearsal mission for D-day.

"The story we ended up using has never been dramatized on TV," said Rosenbaum. "Almost 800 U.S. servicemen were killed and it had to be covered up because the Allies were preparing for the real Normandy invasion."

While the list of video games turned movie/tv show is growing ever larger, this is a bit out of the ordinary. Gearbox, the developers of the game series, is the one producing the show instead of licensing the project out to a third party, as most others have done.

This isn't Gearbox's first toss at the idea either. They announced a Borderlands film for production about five years ago. And earlier this year, they confirmed that acclaimed director Eli Roth is involved in the project.

Since they still need a director and broadcast partner, there's still a solid chance that this project might not make it to release. Time will tell.
