Ever wanted to purchase a physical collector's edition of an indie game? We see collector's editions all the time for AAA games (take for example, Final Fantasy Type-0 or The Order: 1886), complete with action figures, art books, soundtracks, and other goodies. However, plenty of gamers want to be able to also support their favorite indie titles and collect physical goodies, but unfortunately, indie games typically don't have the budget to provide such beautiful editions.

But Gamer's Edition is striving to change that. Released on March 9th and created by Gamer Network, the world's leading network of independent video game websites and producer of the UK's premiere video game events, Gamer's Edition focuses on providing the consumer with a one-of-a-kind physical collector's edition that indie developers always wanted to distribute to their fans.

The site revolves around a crowdfunded pre-order system - in other words, these collector's editions will only be released when the number of pre-orders meet the designated quota. So if there are not enough, the Gamer's Edition will not be released and the customer will not be charged. The Gamer's Edition is also a one-off, meaning that there is only one shipment, and after the shipment, no more will be reissued.

Currently there are Gamer's Editions for two popular titles:

Papers, Please - the Gamer's Edition for this thriller is modeled after the kit the player receives upon winning the Labor Lottery in Arstotzka: Steam key, Arstotzkan stamps, inkpad, poster, passport, Immigration Rule Book, paperwork set, Labor Lottery keyring, and inspector's pin badge. The total package retails for $70.

Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2 - specified by Dennaton Games, the pack will include both games on DVD, custom DVD packaging, Steam keys, C90 mixtape, comic, "Cameo" trading cards, 50 Blessings spray paint stencil and custom art card. The Hotline Miami Gamer's Edition retails for $60.

The items are produced by Idea Planet, the same manufacturers behind Disney figurines and the Collector's Editions of AAA games, so we can assume the product will be of high quality.

Jon Hicks, Head of Gamer's Edition, states:

Gamer's Edition was set up to create awesome collector's editions for games that previously couldn’t deliver them. We realised that digitally-distributed indie games were taking up almost as much of our gaming time as the megabucks triple-A stuff, but they didn't have much in the way of cooler toys or accessories because the developers don’t have the time or the resources to create them. By partnering with Idea Planet, we’ve been able to deliver the quality of blockbuster collectibles for our favourite indie games, and by making them to order we ensure that we only create things that the community really wants. Our goal is to work with both developers and players to come up with high-quality special editions that are as unique as the games themselves.
