Gamers Are Hacking More Games into NES Classic

Nobody is surprised.

The NES Classic was one of the must-have Christmas gifts of 2016. Not only did everyone want one, but stores pretty much sold out immediately. That's not surprising considering the system came installed with 30 classic games from the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It did have its fair share of problems, but it was a pretty hot item. That wasn't enough for some gamers. 30 games just isn't enough for some people. Instead of just passing on it, though, they hacked more games into the NES Classic.

Modding enthusiast, madmonkey, decided to post a guide on how to do it. The good news is that it doesn't require any risky alterations to the hardware or core software of the system. The bad news is that it's still a brand new frontier. That means it may not completely brick your system, but there are no guarantees.

Gamers who feel brave will likely try to mod their own devices. Before long, we'll probably be seeing screenshots of new NES libraries existing on a tiny gray box in living rooms everywhere. In the meantime, it would probably be a good idea to brush up on the legality of downloading ROMs.
