Game Taken Off Steam for Forging Reviews

Let this be a warning.

If you haven't heard of The Art of Stealth, I don't blame you. It's not exactly a hot, AAA game. Unfortunately, if you haven't experienced it by now, you probably won't get a chance. The developer, Matan Cohen, was caught forging fake, positive reviews of the game on Steam. After that, it was game over. The game has been fully removed from the Steam store.

The news of fake reviews wasn't specifically shocking. Before, Cohen was known for fighting against all negative reviews as spam. Cohen even went so far as to pick a fight with reviewer, Jim Sterling. Sterling gave the game a fittingly horrible review. Afterwards, Sterling found himself hit with a DMCA notice about his video, claiming that it violated copyright. Other than that, there was an exchange of nasty words.

Check out the video review in question below.

Hopefully, this is a suitable warning to other, less savory developers. Steam doesn't play around. If you're caught padding your own reviews, expect to have your store privileges revoked.
