Furi is a beautiful game to watch. The action is fluid and colorful, the fights are cinematic, and the art style is charming. That's to be expected when the character designer is Takashi Okazaki of Afro Samurai fame. As far as the gameplay is concerned, an E3 interview with Twitch helped explain everything we need to know.

Is there a special shampoo I could use to get my hair to do that?

Gamers were able to hear about the basics of combat while watching the familiar Jailer boss fight. For that particular fight, a ranged attack was used to weaken the Jailer. This attack came in the form of rapid fire or powerful charged shots. After that, the player was able to get in melee range to do some real damage. Just like with the ranged attacks, sword swipes can be quick swings or charged smashes. The meat of melee combat, however, comes with parrying and counterattacking. Parrying is extremely useful in Furi, especially when chained with a counter. Also, using a parry restores some health. Players can also use a dash move in order to get out of the way of melee and ranged attacks alike. Speaking of ranged attacks, the video features moments when the Jailer nearly turns the game into bullet hell with all of the projectiles. Players are able to shoot the projectiles, though, and may even find health when doing so.

As stated before, the game is absolutely beautiful. On release the game will come with multiple difficulties and at least one variant mode: Speed Mode. Furi is confirmed to be finished and is expected to his PC and PS4 in early July.
