Frying Pans Can Now Save Your Life in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

Who knew a frying pan could be so useful in combat.

Since PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds released almost a month ago, player's have been coming up with all sorts of strategies to defeat their enemies and achieve victory. It wasn't too long ago when some players figured out that hiding inside of a flipped car can actually be quite advantageous to survival. While this was an interesting strategy at the time of its discovery, it quickly became extinct as players learned to check flipped cars.

Battlegrounds received its first major patch today, and while the majority of the update tackled performance issues and optimization, the update also made a pretty significant change to the game's most un-used item: the frying pan. The frying pan can now block bullets. That's right. The frying pan is now an essential defense tool in Battlegrounds, and players have been testing it out since the update. It can apparently block any type of rounds, including shotgun rounds and even shots from the most powerful sniper in the game: the AWM.

Just having the frying pan in your inventory is a big advantage as it sits right about at your characters left buttcheek. While it may not seem like a very significant advantage, the frying pan could be the difference between life or death in certain situations. Just blocking one bullet aimed towards your buttcheek is enough to save your life, and in a situation where you need to run away, there's a good chance your trusty frying pan will come in handy.

This update actually makes the frying pan useful, when previously it, along with other melee weapons, were basically useless other than in the first 30 seconds of the match. I have a feeling that frying pans are going to be a must-have for any competitive loadout from now on. But like any new strategy, players will adapt in one way or another. I guess players will need to start focusing on upper body shots to avoid that dreaded left buttcheek position.
