The licensed game let one player act out the role of Jason as he hunted down the camp counselors (other players) with special powers. While the game was generally well received, it was stopped dead in development tracks when a legal battle took place between the director of the original Friday the 13th movie, Sean Cunningham, and the films writer, Victor Miller.
Developer head Wes Keltner released a statement, explaining why they can't do anything while the case is active and why they can feasibly return to the project by the time its over.
"Until the claim rights can be dismissed or resolved, no new content can be released. . . . We've now been forced to accept that the lawsuit makes future content for the game.
. . .
We cant add any content, whatsoever. Nada. Not even a new tree or rock. We can only focus on console dedicated servers, bug fixes, and maintenance."
It's certainly unfortunate to see a project halted to harshly like this. Our sympathies go out to those previously anticipating the DLC.
