Free Fallout 4 Vanishes From Players' Libraries

Gamers who were lucky enough to stumble upon a free copy of Fallout 4 on the Xbox Store thought they struck gold. However, it seems they struck silver, maybe bronze. Microsoft quickly corrected the error on the storefront, removing the free listing before any major damage was done. Today, Microsoft decided to take the correction one step further. All free copies of Fallout 4 have been removed from players' libraries.

Our pricing error on Fallout 4 has been fixed and your free download will no longer work. For the inconvenience was will deposit $10 by the end of June in your Microsoft Account. This expires one year from the time it was deposited.

The grammar could use a bit of work

In the end, the move was fully legit. It was an honest error. Given, the return may not do wonders for Microsoft's PR department, but there really was no other choice. There is good news for the players, though. Out of the pure kindness of their hearts (and desire for good PR), Microsoft has issued $10 of credit to fill the hole left from the removal. The only caveat is that is expires one year after it has been credited. If you tried to swipe a free copy of Fallout 4, keep an eye on your accounts for the extra credit to trickle in sometime this month.
