After only a few years, Forza Motorsport 7 will be sent to the automotive pasture. Microsoft has announced end of life status for the game and will be removing it from game stores.
The popular racing game originally release on Xbox One and PC in late 2017, eventually moving into the Series S/X, as well as Xbox Game Pass. Despite the generally young age, Developers Turn 10 Studios have announced that theyll be closing off sales for the game on September 15, 2021.
They use the term end of life status to describe the game. They will no longer be selling the game, but existing users will still be able to play single and multiplayer modes. Theyll even be working on adding new Rival events after the games removal. This is an interesting way of doing whats essentially the opposite of what most developers do, which is to deprecate the game before they stop selling it.
In the lead up to this closure, theyre offering a number of incentives to get the game while you can. For example: anyone that played the game via Xbox Game Pass and bought DLC, can redeem the base game for free. This will be available via tokens distributed by Microsoft from today forward. The game will also be 75% off until its final day, for anyone who has yet to purchase it.
Forza Motorsport 7s final day available is September 15, 2021, on the Xbox and Microsoft Store.
