Season 8 of Fortnite is nearly here, and the signs are starting to show. The final teaser image corner has been revealed, showing us what theme we can expect.

Four images have been released in the last four days, each one showing the corner of a greater image. The images showed a red-stylized picture of a hook, a snake, a lion, and now a volcano face. When patched together, they form a large skull over a volcano.

With each image, a part of a poem was also revealed. Combined by the rate in which they appeared, they write out as follows.

X Marks The Spot
Treasure abound
Loot that has been lost
Can always be found.

Sssomething shimmers
Within the cave
But beware of those
Who arrive on waves.

Awaken beasts
Of fire and ash
Battle it out
And loot the stash.

Explore the world
Challenge your fate
Unearth the secrets
Adventure awaits.

So far, much of this points at a pirate-based theme this season.

It doesn't stop here either. The trees have died and ashes have started to appear in the Wailing Woods. Previously, the creepy, lush land was full of spooky trees and dark colored leaves. All of the leaves have disappeared off of the trees recently. And if you look closely, ashes are rising out of the ground.

This, and the final image corner, further imply that a volcano will be making its way into the map.

Fortnite Season 8 begins on Thursday, February 28. Stay tuned as the event unravels.

UPDATE:

Sure enough, a large volcano, spewing lava and all that, has appeared overtop of Wailing Woods. It also brought a dense jungle zone with it. The season 8 update has also introduced Sunny Steps, a step-like pyramid, and Lazy Lagoon, a secret pirate cove. Scattered about are now a bunch of pirate cannons, as well. Pushing the cannons will position them as you want, where you can then fire them for massive damage.
