We shouldn't be surprised. It's the biggest game of the year, after all. And the Avengers crossover is proof enough that they're open to cross over content. But something about this announcement still inspires me to reach for the bottles above my fridge.
The announcement was made by Epic Games worldwide creative director Donald Mustard on Twitter. It comes accompanied by a promotional image of the board variant's layout and included items.
"Thrilled to show you the final art and game board for Fortnite Monopoly! Its so so fun and such a unique spin on the classic game mashed up with last player standing Fortnite. In stores Oct 1st!!!"
The board map appears to retain the familiar format of the original game; locations for purchase on the board represent popular locations in the battle royale's game map, such as Dusty Divot and Tilted Towers.
The image also reveals what appears to be a new mechanic. One of the dice displays items such as bandages and grenades. There also appears to be a pile of green health tokens. It's not clear what role these parts will play in the game, but it fits right along with Mustard's claim that it takes a unique spin on the game.
Fortnite Monopoly will release in stores on October 1.
