It seems all we talk about these days are Fortnite and PUBG, huh? That’s not really that surprising at the end of the day: there’s not a lot of exciting games coming out right now (especially now that Sea of Thieves sort of busted) and with GDC having come and gone most studios are still recovering and, of course, gearing up for E3. Three months is a long time, of course, but when you have a game announcement and you can afford to wait that long to announce it during E3, where it’s guaranteed to get more coverage, well… there’s no reason to not to hold out.

So that means the biggest games – and their rivalry – are the source of all the big headlines these days. Which means, as you could probably guess from the headline and the first sentence to paragraph one, that we’ve got more exciting Fortnite news to share.

Indeed, if you were still doubting Fortnite’s popularity, then this is a statistic that should put those doubts to rest: according to Ryan Wyatt, the head of Youtube Gaming, Fortnite has taken over the internet’s foremost video hosting site by storm.

"How big is @FortniteGame on YouTube? Fortnite holds the record for the most videos related to a video game uploaded in a single month EVER. Yesterday, the Battle Royale tournament had over 42M live views, and set a record for biggest single live gaming stream @ 1.1M concurrent."

Does this mean Fortnite is king of YouTube? Not quite, Minecraft still holds that distinction, but it looks like Fortnite is quickly catching up. It also shows how a game that’s as fun to play as it is to watch (a very important distinguisher) can make a world of difference for streamers and YouTubers who want to make a quick buck playing video games.

So if you’re one such aspiring Youtuber… the trend you should be following is pretty clear.
