For Swearing Off Video Games, Cliff Bleszinski Sure Can't Shut Up About Them

Apparently he's thinking about getting back in the bizz.

You know that guy from your old high school, the one who still lives in the same town after 30 years and considers high school to be the best years of his life, and won't shut up about that one time he scored a winning touchdown in the big game? Increasingly, that's the kind of trope Cliff Bleszinski has been falling into, spending more time talking about Boss Key's failures than he probably ever spent working there.

Despite swearing off the Video Game world after Boss Key was shut down, he's spent a lot of time talking about the failure of a studio that put out one and a half games and was irrelevant even when it went out of business two years ago. He said he was going to write a tell-all book about the studio. He got in trouble when he argued that he failed because he tried to be "politically correct." And now he's doing it again by going to Facebook and, to a lesser extent, Twitter, and ramble about a failure that I'm genuinely shocked that anyone still cares about other than him.

I'm not going to justify his self-indulgent self-pitying any more. There are doubtless other publications out there that'll do that. I just wanted to report that, keeping in character, Cliffy B has reported in the bowels of his latest rant that maybe he doesn't actually want to completely divorce himself from the only industry where he has any sway and pedigree:

"I am finding myself actually having a slight itch to scratch to maybe poke around and see about making a little game. I have some ideas kicking around, so we'll see. I've found myself madly in love with smaller games these days, and the success of Fall Guys and Among Us gives me hope that not everything needs to be insane AAA that requires crazy crunch that ruins families and mental health on a 100m budget."

Cool. I'm not holding my breath on it, nor am I terribly "excited", but hey, who am I to turn down an easy buck by reporting on it?
