For Honor, the game that’s dangerously close to coming out, just finished its closed beta, and first impressions are “optimistic." This being a Ubisoft game, however, there’s literally no such thing as too much QA, so they’re going to host another open Beta between the 9th and the 12th… two days before the game’s final release.
That might not seem like a lot of time, but really, this open beta probably only exists to test multiplayer functionality and probably see if player’s calls for dedicated servers are well-founded. It may also be a chance to test what kind of punishments players should get for quitting a match because ragequitting is apparently quite the epidemic as it stands now.
Regardless, the open beta will run three days and will include a new mode called Elimination, which is a 4v4 mode with no respawns, and the team who does the best out of five rounds wins. This is in addition to the other modes, Domination (4v4 map conquest), brawl (2v2 battle) and Duel (exactly what it sounds like).
This open beta will also introduce the “War of the Factions”, where Ubisoft will track matches across all platforms, and players who participate will be rewarded when the game launches properly, assuming they buy the full version.
I, for one, am rather excited to see if this game lives up to my expectations. It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited for a Ubisoft release, so you bet your bottom I’ll be participating in this open beta.
