If you haven't been playing new battle simulator, For Honor, you're probably jealous of everyone who is. So far, it is a highly rated slugfest of swords and axes. The game mostly focuses on its extremely competitive multiplayer fighting. This ranges from 1-on-1 fights to huge battlefield brawls. Because of that, Ubisoft has to make sure everyone is playing fair. Thus, anti-cheating software is everpresent in the new game.

Unfortunately, many players are calling foul on how overzealous this software is. Many players have complained that they've been hit by the ban hammer without doing anything even the least bit shady. So there may be some kind of bug with the software. Otherwise, many players have complained that they've been banned unfairly. According to Kotaku, a specific controller, the Xpadder, gives players the options to set illegal macros. Whether or not they do is irrelevant according to the software. It simply sees that the possibility exists, and issues a ban.

Another complaint comes when players cheat in single player. While focused on multi-player, For Honor does have a single player campaign. However, players still need to be connected online to play it. Some players who felt there's nothing wrong with cheating in that mode have also been hit with bans. The complaint claims that Ubisoft only mentions cheating in multiplayer as a violation for the ToS. However, that is a bit of a gray area.

What do you think? Has For Honor's anti-cheat software gone too far? Have you been hit by it? Should players be penalized for cheating in a singleplayer campaign? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
