For Honor Alpha Test is Incoming

Feel the terrified hype!

Now, Ubisoft has got itself a terrible reputation for being a terrible company, releasing buggy, incomplete games with overly-complicated pre-order packages and unnecessary, unwanted Uplay integration, and shutting down free-to-play titles. At this point, only a fool (or someone unlearned on the ways of Ubisoft) would be excited for any game they have to offer... and, yet, call me a fool, because I am still pretty stoked about For Honor, their battlefield MOBA-thing that pits Samurai, Vikings, and Knights against each other in endless warfare.

Well, I'll get a chance to see how much of that hype is justified very soon, because Ubisoft has just announced that a closed Alpha is going to start tomorrow, running from the 15th to the 18th, giving players their first taste of their ambitious new title.

The beta will have three game modes - Duel (1v1), Brawl (2v2) and Domination (4v4) and six playable classes: Kensei and Orochi for the samurai, Warden and Conqueror for the knights, and the Raider and Berzerker for the Vikings. In addition to the gameplay and server stability, the Alpha will test the progression and customization systems that the game has promised, although it's doubtful that progress with carry over to the final game.

If you're interested, you can sign up for access on the For Honor website, something I'd like to do myself. I hope it works well: Ubisoft is overdue for a great game, and I'd like it if a new IP got that distinction rather than a Tom Clancy/Assassin's Creed title.

Still, that's out of my hands, ain't it?
