Despite never having played a single game in the franchise, I’m something of a Five Nights fanatic, or as close as one can get while keeping a minimum of ten yards away from something. I love the lore, I love the characters, I love the creator and his supreme underdog status… if I had one tiny complaint, it’s that the creator, Mr. Scott Cawthon, hasn’t let the series die with dignity. Which, given his background, makes sense--this is his first mega-hit after a long string of failures and that’s not easy to give up. Still, as an artist, it does worry me to see him expand the lifespan of his series with strange RPGs, movie deals, and… and now a book.

Yep. A Five Nights at Freddy’s book is on the way, and according to Mr. Scott Cawthon, it’s set to be released on the 22nd.  Just like him to wait till the last second, eh?

“This is not something recent; I've been working alongside a professional writer for the last ten months crafting this story, and I'm very excited about the finished product. It expands the mythos and reveals a human element never before seen in the games.

The book will be for Amazon Kindle first, but that doesn't mean you need a Kindle. You can use the Kindle app, which works with iPhone and Android and even your computer. It will also be in stores in hardback for 2016!”

While we don’t know what it’s about yet, who’s helping him write it, or even what it’s going to be called… gotta say, this is pretty nifty. Of all the Five Nights media I’ve avoided, a book might be just the ticket. And hopefully, the book will hold some clue as to what’s all up with the locked box.
