Scott Cawthon has risen from the shadows once more to scare the hell out of us. The creator of Five Nights at Freddys took to Reddit to bring some bad news about the FNaF movie: Its moving into full production next spring.

Cawthon recently posted on the Five Nights at Freddys Reddit group, claiming to have bad news about the film. Before getting into that news, though, he wanted to expand on some script ideas that they had worked with when deciding how to best produce the film.

This was followed by a rather lengthy list of possible screenplay stories with the pros and cons following each. They considered having it be based on the existing book series, basing the film on a ghost hunting group, and more. It concluded with an oddly vague description of what he called the mike screenplay.

The "Mike" screenplay

Basic Setup: Hmmmm. This makes sense. Why didn't I think of this before?

Problems: Actually this is a good mix... it has the best pieces from all the previous screenplays... Not really any problems here. All the right characters, all the right motivations, all the right stakes...

Verdict: Yeah, we're going with this one. It's fun, it's scary, and it has a great central story!

This is when Cawthon decided to reveal his hand and confess that there is no bad news, instead announcing that pre-production has finished and that production/filming will begin in Spring of next year.

This announcement is then confirmed/celebrated by Blumhouse, the production company handling the film, by sharing the post on Twitter.

What the Mike storyline is remains a mystery. Some theorize that its in relation to a character named Micheal in previous FNaF media, but nothing has been confirmed.

Five Nights at Freddys is one of the most prolific horror games of this generation, skyrocketing in fame and sparking a new wave of indie-developed horror games sharing similar mechanics. The franchise has gone on to produce several sequels, a book series, comic book series, and merchandise line. For those more interested in the game series, Steel Wool Studios is still hard at work developing the next official FNaF game: Security Breach. Originally marked to release Christmas of 2020, it was delayed into early 2021.

Video game films have been a rising trend, especially over the last few years. Films like Pokémon Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog made major box office numbers when they released. With A professional film team and Cawthon's knack for frightening environments and characters, we're confident that this movie will absolutely hold its own too.
