Our prayers, unfortunately, aren’t really answered. But in an effort to at least show that actual work is being put into the project, Ubisoft held an hour-long live stream about the upcoming game and then condensed all that into a five-minute YouTube video. Check it out:
Journey to System 3, for the prequel to one of Ubisoft’s most beloved games! Fight alongside unforgettable characters in a stunning new solar system, as you struggle for freedom and the right to determine your own fate among the stars. Play the adventure by yourself or with friends in a vast and seamless online playground.
The video itself doesn’t have a lot to it, but it’s a fair bit more informative than the E3 trailer. We got to see some models of ships and characters in early-development, and there’s even a bit of the in-game engine in the video too. However, they make no secret of the fact that the game is in early development, anything is subject to change, and they’re interested in keeping most details close to their chest for the time being. Fair enough.
It seemed like more than anything the video was designed to hype up the Space Monkey program, which is an attempt by Ubisoft to bring player feedback into the design of the game from the very earliest stages. Which will prove interesting… especially when they inevitably announce how they intend to put loot boxes in this mess.
Oh, don’t kid yourself. It’s not a question of “if”, but “how” at this point.
