Final Fantasy XV Will Release Sometime This Year

Happy Monday everyone! With the holidays over and the new year upon us, it’s time to go back to the grind of daily life--for developers, that means returning to their computers and offices to continue work on their latest and greatest enterprizes, and for journalists, it means back to the bushes outside those offices to try to dig up new stories for our readers. Well, things will be slow for a bit still, but Square Enix, at least, has jumped on top of things by announcing that the next and hopefully greatest Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy XV, will be released in 2016.

"We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016! In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower. I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft."

Now, that might not seem like much, given that 2016 is a pretty big window… but when you consider that Final Fantasy XV was announced ten years ago--and it’s been seven years since Final Fantasy XIII, the last fully single-player Final Fantasy RPG--you can see why this is big news for final fantasy fans. I know there are certainly a lot of Kingdom Heart fans who would like that kind of information for Kingdom Hearts 3.

But sucks for them, because this is all we know. Here’s hoping soon we can narrow that down to a month sometime.
