I like Prompto more, anyway.

Nearly a year after its initial release, Final Fantasy XV continues to receive quality-of-life updates, as well as new DLC content. Square Enix has recently announced an incoming update that will allow players to choose which of the four protagonists they wish to control.

Originally, you played as Noctis, with Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto functioning as assisting AI characters. With DLC allowing players to take up the controls of whichever teammate that expansion was focused on. Currently, the only DLC available is Episode Gladiolus and Episode Prompto, where you play as these characters respectively.

In a live stream session by Square Enix celebrating the one-year anniversary of Final Fantasy XV, they discussed their plans for the game and its future. That includes the ability to choose between which character you wish to operate in the main game. There will be restrictions during various parts of the storyline that will require players to be Noctis, though that will occur at a seldom rate.

This update is planned for approximately the same time as the next DLC, Episode Ignis. In this expansion you play in a story-driven side mission as... you guessed it, Ignis. Episode Ignis is expected to hit digital shelves on December 13.

The add-ons won't stop with Episode Ignis, as most were expecting. Square Enix also states that players should expect up to three more "Episodes" in 2018, which will focus on the exploits of Ardyn Izunia.

You can watch the broadcast detailing this information for yourself below. Final Fantasy XV is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will be coming to PC in early 2018.
