The long-awaited multiplayer expansion to Final Fantasy XV has received an official launch date. The update, called "Comrades" ("Friends" in Japan), will launch on November 15 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Comrades is a paid DLC for the base game, Final Fantasy XV. Season Pass holders will have the expansion already available to them, while those who do not have the Season Pass can purchase it separately. Since it is a multiplayer addition, a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold membership is required to take part.

The role you take on in Comrades isn't that of Noctis but of survivors of the Kingsglaive exploring the world after the events of the main story's Chapter 13. The player wields special powers granted from royal sigils from the Lucian bloodline. Using these sigils, you can coordinate with others to create a well-balanced team to take on challenges. There will be solo missions you can take to level your character on your own time, as well.

There will also be an update to the base game that will implement Xbox One X support as well as the ability to accept multiple quests. This patch will release for both consoles on November 10.

This announcement was made via the Final Fantasy XV Japanese Twitter account. When translated into English, it reads the following:

"【# My friend is November 15】 We have decided the delivery date of "Friends" on November 15th. I would like to express my gratitude to those who have been waiting so long. Please confirm details from the official website ⇒ https://t.co/qLEW8kRx10 "
