The 2016 Final Fantasy XIV Tokyo Fanfest is underway, but we've managed to get a glimpse of the keynote. Here is the basics of what we've learned:

Red Mage has been confirmed to be a ranged DPS job, blending black and white magic, as well as melee.

The other major highlight? Swimming and diving will be introduced! I've been waiting for this day, ever since the dev team has mentioned they were going to incorporate swimming at some point since the announcement of A Realm Reborn a few years ago.

Furthermore, a new beast tribe and a primal have been unveiled. The primal? Lakshmi!

Additionally, Omega will become a raid (known as The Bend of Time), and three difficulty modes will be integrated into said raid.

Finally, the new alliance raid will contain a storyline from Final Fantasy XII designer Yasumi Matsuno.

Final Fantasy XIV - Stormblood will release on June 20, 2017. Pre-orders will begin on January 24, 2017.

Note that the physical Collector's Edition of the title will contain the Wind-Up Bartz Minion, the Chicken Knife, and the Syldra mount.

Gamer Escape has all the details, in case you're curious.
