By bad, I mean it's been pretty obvious. This year's fanfest is coming up, as some of you may know, but what you may not know is that the festival will follow the tradition of delving into a future expansion pack. However, this means that 4.0 won't release this year. But who are we kidding? We still have at least six months to go for 3.0.
Yes, FFXIV producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV's next expansion, which will most likely deal with Ala Mhigo and its surroundings, will be revealed at this year's fanfest. According to Game Watch, we will also learn more about Patch 3.4.
During the interview, Game Watch asked what the future of the story will entail, considering the Dragonsong War has recently concluded--epic-like, might I add.
According to Yoshi-P, Ishgard, the official fourth city-state of the Eorzean Alliance, will continue to be involved in 3.4 and 3.5.
"If anything, I believe they [Ishgard] will be more involved with the Warrior of Light and the Scions, who helped end the war."
He was then asked if 3.4 and 3.5 will take place in Ishgard, to which he didn't respond, claiming that it's a sensitive topic but it will lead to the next story.
"I believe that we'll see the big changes starting with Patch 3.5 Similar to what we had in Patch 2.5 and 2.55, which I believe was a big pivot."
Yoshi-P also mentioned that the structure of the gameplay, in regards to item level upgrades and timing of high-difficulty raids, won't change, with Alexander raiding landing in even number patches and other big content hitting odd-numbered patches.
Overall, I have to say that we have probably about eight more months of Heavensward before we see the light of 4.0. Though I'm still really damn curious about the jobs we will receive.
I've been hearing that we will receive two jobs... perhaps three.
Still, we know one of them will be Samurai. The other--if there will be two--will end up being a toss up between Red Mage and Blue Mage.
Personally, I'm hoping for Blue Mage. Anyway, look forward to Fanfest, which will take place in North America from October 14 until October 15, 2016.
Unfortunately, it's sold out, but you can at least catch the stream... for a fee, of course!
